Freight Delivery & Damage Policy
Explore Variety ships large furniture via freight (LTL). By placing an order, you agree to the delivery process and inspection requirements below.
1) Delivery Method
- Shipping type: Freight (LTL) curbside delivery.
- What curbside means: Delivery to the first accessible area outside the delivery address. Inside delivery, stair carry, and room-of-choice are not included unless explicitly arranged.
- Appointments: Most freight deliveries require an appointment. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window.
2) Estimated Delivery Timeline
- Estimated delivery: 10–15 business days in most cases (varies by destination and carrier routing).
- Delays may occur due to weather, carrier availability, holidays, or destination restrictions.
3) Address Requirements
- Residential delivery: Allowed. Appointment required. Liftgate service may apply where needed.
- Commercial delivery: Allowed. Please provide business name, receiving hours, and any delivery instructions.
- Access notes: You are responsible for ensuring the delivery location is accessible for a freight truck. If a re-delivery is required due to access issues, you may be responsible for additional carrier fees.
4) Inspection Required at Delivery (Do Not Skip)
- Inspect before signing: Open packaging when possible and inspect the item(s) for visible damage.
- Note damage on the delivery receipt (BOL): If you see damage, write a clear note on the carrier’s paperwork before signing (example: “damaged corner,” “crushed box,” “scratched top”).
- If damage is severe: You may refuse delivery. Take photos and contact us immediately.
- If you sign “clean” with no notes: The carrier may deny a damage claim. This can limit or eliminate replacement/claim options.
5) Damage Reporting Window
- Report within 48 hours: Damage must be reported to Explore Variety within 48 hours of delivery.
- Send clear photos of: (1) the damage, (2) the packaging, (3) the shipping label, and (4) the full item.
6) Returns & Restocking
- Freight returns require prior written authorization.
- Approved returns may be subject to a restocking fee and return freight costs, depending on the manufacturer’s policy and item condition.
- Items must be returned in original packaging where possible and in resellable condition.
